This beautiful kitchen installation has transformed a period cottage in Danbury, Essex, into a warm and sociable living space, carefully balancing timeless character with modern functionality. The clients selected the elegant Wakefield shaker door in the soft, neutral colour Stone, creating a calm and inviting palette that complements the cottage’s heritage perfectly.
A standout feature of the design is the striking Quartz worktop and full-height splashback behind the hob. Built around a bespoke crafted mantel, this area creates a stunning focal point within the room, adding depth, texture and traditional charm. The detailed veining within the Quartz introduces a luxurious finish while maintaining the understated feel of the kitchen.
At the heart of the space sits the impressive island, designed as both a practical workspace and a social hub for family life and entertaining. Generous seating encourages guests to gather comfortably, making the island the true centrepiece of the kitchen. A separate bar area further enhances the entertaining experience, complete with a convenient Quooker boiling tap for effortless drink preparation and hosting.
Traditional detailing throughout the cabinetry adds further character and craftsmanship to the design. Curved and moulded skirting plinths, quadrant end mouldings and classic cornicing all contribute to the bespoke feel of the kitchen while respecting the cottage’s period setting.
Functionality was equally important within the project, with a separate utility room installed to keep everyday tasks organised and discreetly tucked away. Premium appliances from Neff were chosen throughout, alongside an integrated Liebherr freezer with ice-making capability, ensuring the kitchen delivers exceptional performance as well as timeless style. Thoughtfully designed for modern family living, the space celebrates craftsmanship, light, texture and elegance.
